WHERE DOES THE NAME PISCHINGER COME FROM?

Well, it comes from the name of its creator – Oskar Pischinger – a Viennese baker. Oskar Pischinger created a truly addictive dessert… It was so phenomenal that soon it settled in all the Galician cake shops and cafés for good, finally reaching Cracow, too. This delicious treat quickly went down well with Cracovians and became their favourite dessert.

FROM PISCHINGER TO WILDER – WHAT IS COMMON BETWEEN SUCHA BESKIDZKA AND HOLLYWOOD

According to the legend Sucha Beskidzka is where you could try the best ‘pischinger’. Here, in a small Galician town, the Wilders couple ran their own confectionery at the local station. Those who travelled through Sucha visited the famous confectionery, where tasting the legendary ‘pischinger’ was a must. Samuel, the Wilders’ son, known as Billy, did not intend to continue the family tradition, despite the fact that he loved sweets. When he was in Vienna and Berlin, he discovered a writing talent. He went into journalism and later into writing film scripts. Having emigrated to the United States, Billy made his way to the DREAM FACTORY in Los Angeles. In Hollywood his great American dream finally came true.

GREAT AMERICAN DREAM

His career took off. Soon Billy Wilder became a famous film director of such classics of the cinema as Some Like it Hot starring Marylin Monroe or Sunset Blvd. (which was awarded three Oscars). Samuel Billy Wilder has still remained one of the most prominent Hollywood icons. The authorities of Sucha Beskidzka, in order to honour Billy Wilder, named one of the streets and a cultural center after him. Today, close to this particular street, our factory can be found. The confectionery has been continuing the tradition of the legendary dessert since it was opened. We still make an exceptional, Galician ‘pischinger’ in various, delicious flavours, with MILK JAM being probably the most incredible one.
